First version of my stargate switch.

The IR sensor is active low. For exact pinout consult the datasheet (ie. sfh 5110), or play a bit, and test it with a TV remote.

To check IR led works, you can test it with a digital camera.

The switch detects hand at distace up to 10-15 cm.

My text is just fine :-P

References: http://home.cogeco.ca/~rpaisley4/LM555.html#3 using 555 as an astable oscillator - calculations for frequencies... to get the rough one. To match it, you have to play with the trimmer.
